England's Euro 2012 squad announced
Rio Ferdinand has been omitted from Roy Hodgson’s England squad for the upcoming Euro 2012, it was revealed today.
Announced today, Arsenal’s uncapped winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has made the cut along with Norwich goalkeeper John Ruddy, while Tottenham’s Kyle Walker is out through injury and Peter Crouch and Micah Richards were also left behind.
England manager Roy Hodgson has named Steven Gerrard as his captain for next month's Euro 2012 campaign.
Scott Parker was one of several other players in contention but Hodgson said Liverpool midfielder Gerrard deserved it on merit.
Gerrard has not led his country since the Euro 2012 qualifying 3-1 away win against Switzerland on 7 September, 2010.
