Friendly: New York Red Bulls 1-2 Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur rounded off its pre-season tour of the US with victory on Wednesday evening, after two moments of class from Gareth Bale and Gylfi Sigurdsson saw off New York Red Bulls 2-1.
The match started at a quick pace and the Red Bulls were gifted an opportunity to take the lead when Jan Vertonghen fouled Tim Cahill, who was making his debut for the MLS side, and the referee awarded a penalty.
Kenny Cooper was given the responsibility to take the penalty and he made no mistake to give the Red Bulls the lead from 12 yards.

Despite the early goal, it was Spurs who enjoyed the majority of possession but a stubborn New York side was well supported by goalkeeper Bill Gaudette and they still held the lead at half-time.
It took Spurs 15 minutes to find a goal after the interval and it was Gareth Bale who levelled the match with a well-placed header from an accurate Gylfi Sigurdsson corner.
The Premier League side continued to press and Andre Villas-Boas's team found the winner in the 65th minute as Sigurdsson cut in from the wing to curl a shot past Gaudette in the Red Bulls goal.
A third goal was not to follow, despite Michael Dawson clattering the bar from the six-yards and a late flurry of chances for substitute Andros Townsend, but the positives will certainly outweigh the negatives for Villas-Boas as Tottenham prepares to return to London.
