Chelsea eased into the final of the Club World Cup in Japan with a comfortable 3-1 win over Monterrey.
Mata netted the opener in the 18th minute, while Torres scored the second in the 46th minute. Chelsea’s third was an own goal through Darvin Chavez, who was under pressure in the game.
Chelsea created many other chances but failed to convert them, while Monterrey also got their share when Aldo De Nigris’ header beat goalkeeper Petr Cech but went wide.
With the game getting out of their grip, Monterrey came out fighting to get something from the tie. De Nigris, who threatened Chelsea’s rear with his daring incursons however scored a stoppage time consolation goal against the Blues.
Chelsea will now face Brazil’s Corinthians in the final on Sunday, 16 December, while Monterrey play losing semi-finalists, Al-Ahly of Egypt in the third-place playoff.

"It was a good game for us," said Benitez, who won the title with Inter Milan two years ago. "We had good tempo, good play and a lot of possibilities for us. I am pleased with the performance of our team."
Torres has 12 goals this season, one more than his total for all of 2011-12.
"He is much sharper," Benitez said. "I hope it will be more of the same in the future."
