World Cup Qualifiers: San Marino v England preview
England will attempt to move top of Group H ahead of their clash with Montenegro when they travel to San Marino on Friday.
Roy Hodgson's team are the highest-ranked nation in Group H, but sit two points behind leaders Montenegro after winning two and drawing two of their first four matches.
Routine 5-0 wins away to Moldova and at home to San Marino were to be expected, but it is the dropped points in 1-1 draws at home to Ukraine and away to Poland which have England's qualification campaign in jeopardy already.
San Marino have lost their last 50 games and are officially the worst team in international football but Gerrard knows from bitter experience that England can be contained by opposition who they are expected to beat easily.
Against Andorra in 2007, England were booed from the pitch after a goalless first half and ultimately had to wait until the 54th minute before Gerrard scored in an eventual 3-0 victory.
