Premier League: Arsenal held to a scoreless draw by Everton
Arsenal and Everton played out a 0-0 draw at Emirates Stadium which did little to aid the UEFA Champions League ambitions of the Premier League rivals.
The clash was a fairly even affair with both teams creating numerous chances in the opening half. Despite Arsenal being more dangerous in the second half, they were denied by excellent defending by Jagielka and Coleman.
With 15 minutes remaining of a potentially season-defining game for both of these sides both managers remained commendably committed on the attack and it would have paid dividends for Arsenal had Giroud not been prevented by an astonishing goal saving clearance from Slyvain Distin, before he blazed over soon after when a more controlled finish would surely have broken the deadlock.
Arsenal pressed during the closing stages, but unlike here against Norwich on Saturday, there was to be no late surge and the points were shared.

"We should have won the game, but it keeps us in a strong position for the top four," Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger told reporters.
"Maybe we used too much power instead of technique in our finishing," Wenger added. "But you have to respect Everton for the effort they put in."
Arsenal is third on 60 points from 33 games, but can soon be caught by both Chelsea, on 58 points with two games in hand, and Tottenham, which also has 58 points but has only one game in hand. Everton stays sixth, two points further back.
