Sir Alex Ferguson retires
Sir Alex Ferguson has announced he will retire as manager of Manchester United at the end of the season, after 26 years in charge.
The 71-year-old, who guided United to their 20th domestic title last month, will take charge of his final game when his team faces West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns on May 19.
The Scot admitted that his decision to retire has come at the right time for him and the club.
“The decision to retire is one that I have thought a great deal about and one that I have not taken lightly,” Ferguson said. “It is the right time."

Now, for the first time in over a quarter of a century, United are on the hunt for a new manager.
David Moyes, out of contract at Everton, and Jose Mourinho, who is expected to leave Real Madrid at the end of the season, are the obvious favourites, although Borussia Dortmund's highly-regarded coach Jurgen Klopp and Bayern Munich's 67-year-old outgoing boss Jupp Heynckes will also come into contention.
It promises to be a major test of nerve for the Glazer family, plus Ed Woodward, who will replace David Gill as chief executive in the summer.
Ferguson final game, away to West Brom on May 19, will be his 1,500th in charge.
