Chelsea held on to a 2-2 draw by Spurs

Gylfi Sigurdsson's late equaliser earned Tottenham a point at Chelsea, but Spurs missed the chance to climb into the Premier League's top four.

Oscar put Chelsea ahead in the 11th minute, but Emmanuel Adebayor tied the score in the 26th with a 22-yard shot following a run from inside his own half.

Ramires' 39th-minute goal looked to have earned Chelsea three points that would virtually have secured the team a place in Champions League for an 11th straight season.

But Sigurdsson placed a curling shot into the corner in the 80th to lift fifth-placed Spurs to within a point of Arsenal in fourth.

Chelsea remain third and are two points clear of the Gunners.

"Obviously with a point we don't depend on ourselves any more, someone else will have to drop points," said Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas, making his first return to the club that fired him 14 months ago.

Chelsea closes at Aston Villa and home against Everton, while Arsenal hosts Wigan and finishes at Newcastle. Tottenham is at Stoke and home against Sunderland.

"We had the chance today," Chelsea manager Rafa Benitez said. "Twice we had the advantage and we could have killed the game."
