David Moyes ready to be the new Manchester United manager
David Moyes admits he has taken on the toughest job in football by succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson.
The six-year contract the Man United hierarchy handed Moyes is testimony to their faith in the outgoing Everton boss’s ability to continue Ferguson’s glittering legacy of success.
The Everton manager will leave the Merseyside club after its final two games of the season and start work at Old Trafford on July 1.

In a statement from Manchester United, David Moyes spoke of the "great honour" of being asked to become its manager, and his respect for the achievements of his predecessor.
"I know how hard it will be to follow the best manager ever, but the opportunity to manage Manchester United isn’t something that comes around very often and I’m really looking forward to taking up the post next season,” Mr Moyes said.
Moyes is braced for the tough job of following Britain's most successful manager, who is retiring at the end of the season after winning two Champions Leagues, 13 league titles, five FA Cups in more than 26 years at United.
His first task will be dealing with the future of one of his star players, his old protege Wayne Rooney. The striker, who came through the ranks under Moyes at Everton, held showdown talks with Ferguson two weeks ago and told him that he wanted to leave in the summer.
However, it is understood that Rooney's position may now have cooled following Moyes's appointment. If Rooney does decide that his future remains at Old Trafford, it would be the second time the 27-year-old has done a U-turn over his future - after his transfer request in 2010 - and he would face a struggle to win back support from United's fans.
