Manchester United: Rio Ferdinand agrees new one-year contract
Rio Ferdinand has signed a one-year contract extension with Manchester United, the club announced today.
Ferdinand and United are a perfect match. It's been illustrated time and again over the past 11 seasons, and it shouldn't be expected to change when the Red Devils return to the pitch to defend their title.
The former England centre-back was out of contract in the summer, and had attracted offers from leagues around the world, including the MLS.

The 34-year-old last week called time on his international career in order to concentrate on club matters and has spoken openly about David Moyes' impending arrival as Sir Alex Ferguson's replacement.
Nevertheless, the commitment of someone who has just won his sixth Premier League title is a further seal of approval for Moyes, who is facing a tough baptism at Manchester United given he has never won any major silverware, despite his impressive reputation.
Ferdinand said: "I am delighted to have signed for another year and I am looking forward to working with the new manager."
Speaking to the club's website, Moyes stated: "It is clear for everyone to see that Rio has had one of his best seasons with the club and I think even from the outside you can see what a big character Rio is around the dressing room, so I am delighted he has signed a new contract and I am looking forward to working with him."
Ferdinand joined United from Leeds in 2002 for £30million and has won 14 trophies during his time at Old Trafford.
