Premier League: Arsenal beats West Ham 3-1

Arsenal has moved back into the top four of the Premier League table following their 3-1 victory over West Ham United at the Emirates Stadium last night.

The Gunners came from a goal down after a poor first half display as Matthew Jarvis opened the scoring for the Hammers with a header in the 40th minute.

But Lukas Podolski levelled the game before the break with a powerful low shot.

Arsenal played much better after the interval and went ahead thanks to Olivier Giroud. The French striker sent the ball through the legs of Adrian following Thomas Vermaelen's cross 10 minutes into the second period.

The Gunners killed the game in the 78th minute when Aaron Ramsey headed the ball down for Podolski and the German international sent the ball into the net with a clinical finish.

"It was a hard-fought win, but a very, very important one," Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said. "The key was (to score) just before halftime. In the second half we controlled well the game."

Arsenal (67 pts) are just one point above Everton in the fourth place but Wenger’s men have played one more game. The Toffees host Crystal Palace tonight as they will try to leapfrog the Londoners once again.
