Arsenal on the road to history!

FC Arsenal aspires to win 2015-16 FA Cup, England Premiership, Champions League silverware

Under the veteran leadership of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, the Gunners are having a great 2015-16 season. Arsenal is in first place on top of the Premiership table, in the Knockout Stage of the Champions League, and contender to take home the FA Cup trophy this campaign. Arsenal begin their defense of the FA Cup silverware against Sunderland this weekend with aspiration to be the first club since 1886 to win the prized FA Cup trophy for three years in a row.

Calum Chambers remarked in an interview from Arsenal Player on Arsenal.com, “I think for every Englishman it is a very memorable cup.” “It gives that edge to it so you want to win it even more,” continued Chambers. “It would be an amazing achievement and I’m sure everyone will be everything to get there. I wouldn’t say we are discussing it but we are thinking about it. Anything in the cup can happen, it is not always straightforward.

The FA Cup squad is expected to be similar to the squad that played against Newcastle. In terms of player fitness, Alexis is not fit to play due to his hamstring injury. Santi Cazorla and Coquelin are doing well, but both men will be on the bench for the clash. Tomas Rosicky is expected to be back in full training next week, and will be available soon. Mikel Arteta is available.

To date, Arsenal have no transfers in the January 2016 window. Arsenal will go head to head against Sunderland at home at Emirates Stadium on January 9, 2016 in the third round of the FA Cup. Top, hard-to-get tickets to watch Arsenal v Sunderland are available online for cheap prices at 1st4 Football Tickets.

The Gunners have crucial Premier League matches coming up against Liverpool, Stoke City and FC Chelsea. Be there to cheer for the Gunners live! Then in February Arsenal face titan Spanish La Liga giants FC Barcelona in a two-legged tie in the Round of 16. Do not miss the chance to see world-class players Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Neymar compete in live action at Emirates Stadium in London and Camp Nou in Barcelona, Spain.

Barcelona is amazing this season and recently enjoyed an easy 4-1 victory against arch city rivals Espanyol in the first leg of their Copa del Rey Last-16 tie. Two stunning Lionel Messi goals put Barca ahead at the break after Felipe Caicedo opened the scoring for Espanyol. Gerard Piqué and Neymar each scored after the break, Spanish La Liga titan side Barcelona will be confident going into their Champions League tie with Arsenal.

In the past Barca have had a stronger side than Arsenal in the Champions League Knockout Stage. Barcelona beat the Gunners in the quarter-finals in 2009-10 and in 2010-11, and defeated them in the 2006 final. However hopes are high that goalkeeper Petr Čech will be able to stop the powerful superstar trio of Messi, Suarez, and Neymar, and end a run of five straight Round of 16 exits for the Gunners.

In 2009-10 Arsenal came back from being behind 2-0 to salvaging a 2-2 draw in the first leg. However, Lionel Messi's four goals in the Camp Nou return helped Barça win 4-1 and 6-3 overall. In the 2010-11 Last 16, Arsenal won a narrow 2-1 first-leg victory in the first leg of the tie, but then lost 3-1 in Spain.

In 2006 Sol Campbell opened the scoring for the Gunners at the Stade de France but late strikes from Samuel Eto'o and Juliano Belletti gave the victory to Barcelona at full-time. Goalkeeper Jens Lehmann became the first player ever to be sent off in a European Cup final. Lionel Messi has earned six goals in four games against Arsenal - four in the 2010 quarter-final second leg, and two additional in the 2011 Round of 16 second leg.

A very important point is that Messi has never beaten Petr Čech in seven matches against the former Chelsea goalkeeper. The tough tie will showcase magnificent superstar footballers from both Arsenal and Barcelona – so expect to enjoy the beautiful game played at its best. To date, Barca transfers are In: Aleix Vidal from Sevilla and Arda Turan from Atletico Madrid. None out.
