Manchester Derby: City beat 3-0 United at Old Trafford

Edin Dzeko was the hero of the night yesterday as the Bosnian grabbed a double to help Manchester City beat 3-0 Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The result lift Manuel Pellegrini’s men up to second place in the Premier league table; 3 points below leaders Chelsea but with 2 games in hand.

Dzeko scored after just 43 seconds when he picked up the rebound off the post following Samir Nasri’s first effort.

United were outclassed by their neighbours in the 167th edition of the Manchester derby and never looked like they had any chance to comeback.

Dzeko netted again in the 56th minute when he volleyed the ball past De Gea from Nasri’s corner.

Yaya Toure added the third in stoppage time when a pass from substitute James Milner deflected into his path and he fired into the bottom corner of the net.

David Moyes’ men have now suffered six home league defeats this season and remain seventh with 51 points.

Spurs are sixth 5 points above the Red Devils and 1 point below Everton, who beat Newcastle away last night and still hold a game in hand.
