Bayern Munich top IFFHS 2013 Club World Rankings
Bayern Munich was the best club in the world in 2013, according to the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS). The Federation ranked Real Madrid second, Chelsea third and Atlético Madrid and Barcelona in fourth and fifth place respectively.
Bayern won both the German domestic competitions and the UEFA Champions League with Jupp Heynckes at the helm, and later Josep Guardiola led the team to win UEFA's Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup.
Spanish clubs had embraced a fine year as three La Liga sides were among the top five, led by cash-splashing Real Madrid who were second-placed behind Bayern, while English Premier League powerhouse Chelsea were sandwiched in third place by the Spaniards.
France's high roller Paris Saint--Germain were the sixth, 700 points -behind out-of-favor Barcelona, who topped the ranking last term.
It is the first time in the history of the Club World Ranking that a German club is the winner. Moreover, FC Bayern Munich had the second highest score in the history of the ranking, surpassed only second only by FC Juventus with a total of 372.7 points in 1993.
